Benefits of Hybrid Demodulation Strap
Test Setup:
Two Systems using Noralis MWD Platform. System One used a Leading Pressure Transducer Manufacturer to receive data signal from downhole pulser. System Two used ASD Holding Hybrid Demodulation Strap to receive signal from downhole pulser.
Results:
Initially the Leading Manufacturer’s Transducer was not able to pick up the data being transmitted from the downhole pulser and the operator was not able to decode over that time interval (See picture #1 below). However, ASD Holdings Hybrid Demodulation Strap, over the same time interval was allowing decoding to take place. Picking up the data immediately right out of the shoe of the parent casing. (See Picture #2 below)

ASDH Hybrid Demodulation Strap decoding:
Additional positive results of the Hybrid Demodulation Strap according to the operator, involved obtaining a faster, higher density data rate. The operator was able to obtain a .6 second pulse below 20,000 feet. This was a rate that operator was never able to achieve with a conventional pressure transducer in the past with either a Noralis Platform or an Erdos Miller Platform with a conventional pressure transducer. The benefit of this is that the survey the operator needs to take for his client is done in a shorter period of time. In addition tool face time for sliding are greatly improved.
For Example:
Operator wants fast tool faces and greater data density for the Gamma Logs. When pulse widths hit above 1.0 seconds the operator may drill 5-10 feet without getting a Gamma Count. Not a good thing for survey.
Conclusion:
Operator was able to TD the well using Hybrid Demodulation Strap with a 0.6 pulse width. This was the first time he was able to get this done below 21,500 feet. He received faster tools faces and greater data density. The Hybrid Demodulation Strap was 5- 10 seconds faster than conventional pressure transducer, shutting off and turning on. Operator was able to see pumps on and pumps off events with no issues.
